Alright so I’m doing head gaskets on my 360, I figured while it was apart I’d do timing chain and balancer, and put it back together with a weiand action plus intake manifold with a Holley 600 and some heddman headers. Also putting in the pro form electronic ignition distributor with the upgraded control module. Heads are at the machine shop now and they passed the vacuum test so they’re being surfaced and having a broken exhaust stud fixed.

I’m not looking for crazy performs just want to let it breath alright. My boss thinks that being a 79 with a smog era (likely worn) cam it may be gasping a little bit and that while I have it this far apart I should go ahead and do a very mild cam and lifters. What do you guys think? Most of our experience is with DOHC inline 4 fiat motors, he’s got more all around experience than me and I’m completely new to American stuff and especially v8’s so I just wanted a second opinion on that.

I’m learning as I go here and any input is appreciated

The Edelbrock Performer-Plus cam kit will provide a bit more low-end grunt without having to go crazy with other mods.

Thanks! That’s kinda what I was thinking. Something mild. Summit has one of their brand kits with similar specs for about half the price, it’s got more/better reviews than the edelbrock so I think I’m gonna try that one out.
