Anyone done this before?

I bought a set of dodge 8 lug rims for cheap as they are 16" and my current wheels are 16.5".
It'll mean I don't have to import tyres from abroad (I'm in Ireland).

Now the bolt pattern is the same as I test fitted one to the front of my chevy (1979 G30) but the offset is different. Looks like I may need wheel spacers and possibly longer studs.
Any of you dodge guys know what taper angle is on the lug nuts these wheels take?

Any more info on the wheels may help.
I know so far they are 16" x 8" and were fitted to 2000-2002 Dodge Rams.
Bolt Pattern: 8 x 165.1mm/6.5".
Offset: 44mm.

Cheers guys.

I assume the typical 60 degree seat. I don't speak offset but backspace, you have 44 mm offset or about 1.75 ". Don't know if positive or negative offset, so you either have 5.75" or 2.25" back space. It's easier to take a strait edge on the back of the rim and measure to the matting surface of the rim. just compare the two. Aluminium rims typically require more torque, so you may want to go with the dodge specs. If the stud size is the same, the dodge stud may fit (longer). Good reference FMECAT.com.

Shaggy,

These are GM factory machined Alloys, the finest wheels in all the land. For under a Hundred bucks. Pretty impressive, for a stock GM wheel IMO. Frscke1 can explain why these are so valuable.

Your signature pic will look way better with GM Alloy wheels. These look Baddass. I get compliments all the time. Find a nice set, lug nuts and center caps, It will bolt right up. It will look nice. The Dodge wheel? Hmmmm. Pondering heavily on that, Mate!

The Dodge wheels can be sold to offset the cost. You won't be sorry. Cheers! cheers

Hmm. They look the same, I'll go out and see if mine have a date code. Mine take the threaded lugs that hold on the caps with the plastic nuts. I am unsure about different lug nuts without the caps, but thats the way I went. Ebay

Thanks guys, those centre caps look great but shipping to Ireland is too much. Gonna have to hunt some down in Europe.

Thread revival.

I had these wheels refurbished and am now looking to put some tires on them.

Any recommendations for van tires for R16 x 6.5J rims on a G30 camper?

Big name brands are best as I will be more likely to be able to get them here in Ireland.
Cheers guys.

Hey Shaggy, Good to hear from you! The 16 x 6.5 alloys wrapped with those BFG's on Scotty's white G30 look aggressive but are pretty quiet. Pretty impressive ride for an off road LT street tire that would be a good choice around here all year. I think they wear well too.

I run the same tire size in a General Grabber 10 ply rated very truck like ribbed commercial street type tyre, very stiff, good in rain, snow. (On both 1 tons)

Good Hunting!

Cheers guys.
What is the tire size on them ?

I can get 235/85 R16 size here but they are €237 per tire so quite expensive.

I'd like to run the widest I can go on 6.5 rims

Anyone have any experience with HANKOOK DYNAPRO AT2 tires?

Other contenders are General Grabbers and Toyo Open Country U/T's.
