E150 Charging/Electrical issues - October 04th 2019 2:28 am
Hey Everyone-
Been having an ongoing issue with the charging system on a 95 E150 club wagon (5.0 V8). So far have replaced alternator and voltage regulator and had seemed to fix the issue (charge around 14.2-14.5) for about a week or so. Have since double checked grounds, cables etc., but will have some intermittent low charging (reading around 12.4 with AC running). Same time as new alternator did a new distributor cap, plugs and wires.
Recently was running AC in city for a few hours and system went out completely (no charge running off straight battery). Replaced starter relay and didn’t resolve the issue. Went to replace fusible links and after some struggles trying to find suitable replacements, just bit the bullet and ordered an OEM alternator wiring replacement from Tasca.
Hopefully this resolves the issue, but was wondering if a second battery would help when running higher loads. It is set up for one and figured I could probably pull the wiring and relay off something at the junkyard.
Just figured I’d throw this out there if anyone has any thoughts or experience with similar stuff. Appreciate the help.
