purchased an 88 G20 vandura from a group who traveled across the whole US just to break down in my city. The bracket that holds the power steering pump, alternator, and others. cracked and broke right at the powersteering. We went ahead and removed the plate from the front of the engine welded it back together and what a pain to get it back on, but when we did it ended up cracking the weld. Is there a good solution for this? Do i need power steering? Is this a known issue with these vans?

Not sure if it's an issue, but on my 88 i remember when i was a kid my and my father owned it the whole bracket drive sheared the bolts off the block and it was down at a dealer for 2 weeks. I thought about maybe trying to change it over to an early 90's style truck accessory drive all the accessories will be in the same place, but i assume they used this style to save space under the hood or lack there of.

It's not just the vans, the big one piece one's break. I have the same setup on my 89. at one point I saw replacements.
yeah the big one piece accessory mount. is there an alternative? like can i get a seperate mount for the powersteering and cut the old powering steering mount out that broke anyways?
Don't know. My biggest fear is breaking, I have the aluminium one.
