I have a 99 GMC Savana that I got on a REALLY good deal. But, some moron rear ended me 2 weeks ago and now I'm stuck with replacing most of it myself. So, my main question is about REAR DOORS for 1999 GMC/Chevy Van.

What all years are compatible?

1999-2009, is what I found, but I'm still used to G20's and learning all new about Express/Savana vans.

Also, while we are at it...side doors? engine hood? Others parts? I APPRECIATE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND TIME!

I'll get back to older vans, eventually. Just had to update a little with having an 18 month old baby. smile

I'm sorry to hear your van was damaged. frown

There are early (GMT600) and late (GMT610) Express and Savana vans.

The early vans run from 1996 to 2002. These all share sheetmetal as far as I know. They have mechanicals copied from/shared with/inspired by the GMT400 trucks. I'm no expert, so check with a yard that has a Hollander's manual. These all used the same early frames, engines, transmissions, etc.

There was a heavy refresh in 2003 to current. Longer front end, so fenders, hood, grille, front bumper do not interchange. The "halo" in the rear which arches up over the roof tying the tail lamps together, as well as the lamps themselves, changed subtly. I do not know if they interchange. I can't swear to the doors and hinge covers, but they sure look the same to my eye. This refresh also brought heavier frames and mechanicals copied from/shared with/inspired by the GMT800 pickups. So LS engines, bigger brakes, 4 wheel discs, etc. New dashes, etc. Major body panels look to me like they'd interchange, including all doors. That's not to say internal brackets and what-not did not move to support trim panel changes, etc.

Thank you! Mostly, rear doors and bumper...and I can fabricate a little, if needed. Hopefully not. But, I found a guy less than 20 miles away who is willing to sell me 2 rear doors and bumper off of a 2005 Chevy Express....for only $150!

After a little eBay and Google searching, I think I found that rear doors are compatible from 96-2016!

Excellent. I would certainly expect the basic inner and outer stamping to be different. I was never dedicated to these programs, but I know of one running change to the right rear door, to add a blocking plate below the door lock rod behind the license plate pocket. And as mentioned, trim holes and arm rest brackets (front doors) may have moved around. But they should work for you.

I thought about updating my rear bumper to the new style, as they removed the reflectors either side of the license plate after a few years. But I decided to keep my original.

I also kind of like the newer halo and tail lamps. The newer halo sticks out a but, forming a small lip spoiler, Vs. the rounded smooth look of mine. Also, they moved the back up lamp segment in the tail lamps from the bottom to the middle.

Just little things...good luck with your project. Post some picks of your progress. It's always fun to see someone working on their van.
