Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum and just getting into the van life. Been looking for the perfect fit for me for about 3 years now. Came across this:

I went to look at it. Needs a new windshield as there's a crack. Needs new tailpipe. Tires will need to be replaced in prob 5000 miles. Also, he was charging the battery and said that if he doesn't start it for 1.5-2 weeks he neeeda to charge it. He said that's common for older vans?
There's of course some rust bubbles, doesn't appear to be anything structural, just surface typical stuff.

What is your opinion on this van? Thanks so much guys!
If the battery is draining like that, I would think that there's either something draining it, like a clock, alarm, or whatever, or there's a short somewhere that's pulling it down.
My '92 G20 can sit for quite a while and not have any issues starting.
Whoops. Forgot to post the link!

Welcome to the site DelusionalReality .... gotta love a 4x4 van !

Not as "RARE" as he thinks as he used it as a selling point.

Yea, it doesnt seem to be that RARE...Any things I should look for specifically when checking out the vehcile to avoid any long term issues if i were to buy it? I think 5,000 would be a fair price for it with all the problems that he described to me.

And also, do you guys have any literature on the kind of van this is? Its a 1988 G20 sportvan, but i havent seen any with the hightop and any with those windows. did they come stock on the vehicle?

Thanks!

The battery may have a drain. Old wires, cracked casing on the wire or a ground.

Your van is considered a conversion. Vacuum lines are a biggie that may need to be replaced.

5K is not bad for a 4x, ask him to put it in 4 wheel. How much he fights doin it will set the price. Other wise 2.5 - 3.5 is a price I would offer.

All older veh will need some love & maintenance.
He's asking about twice as much as I'd be willing to pay for it (especially since the interior is unfinished).
perfect guys, thanks so much for the responses. I know the price is high, considering all the issues im mentioning. I will do some haggling for sure. Keep it coming! thanks for all the insights!
