I recently received a box of vintage Hot Rod and car magazines from the mid to late 70's. I flipped through them and realized there is a lot of reference material about vans so I want to start scanning and uploading them here.

Here is a teaser.

There are also a lot of ads for van parts, vendors, and how to guides throughout. It will take me a bit because there's about 40 magazines (and a few auto show booklets), but some of the non van magazines will have a lot of old school tips and tricks.

What do you guys think?

I really dig that first Econoline with the "arrows" on the body. Something to think about for my paint scheme.

Amazing! that 72 is the bees knees. I like the end of the description on that van "Burks said he learned a lot about planning after tearing apart his Ford so many times.

Yes please! If there's no legal issue, I'd be glad to checkout those out.

I doubt Hot Rod Magazine and several defunct magazines from the 70's are going to come after us. I'll keep posting them up smile

I picked up a few more 70's Hot Rod magazines today at a local swap. I'll scan some more articles later this week.

I scored a few more Hot Rod Magazines at a swap this weekend. All from 1974-1976.

Here is a small teaser from an article that covers the Third Annual National Truck-In in Bowling Green Kentucky in 1975.

"Over 4500 vans and 18,000 truckers came to Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green Kentucky, for what was to become the largest participant-oriented automotive event in the history of the automobile otherwise known as Truck-In '75."

Man, look at those vendors and all their product. $30k in sales was probably half a years' worth in just one weekend.
