IN THE OLD DAYS we never heard much about vans..Our only connection was when a stray van magazine stumbled into the magazine display at the hotel....We did however have a pretty good hot rod club - the VAPOR TRAILERS -and our local priest made it possible for our club to use a portion of the Ford garage....That is where I built the flathead motor for my '35 Ford coupe.....In the meantime I was tooling around town in my souped up '49 Ford...I did a lot of work on that car and it was pretty hot....It would be a few years before any customs showed up - driven by some of the local college students....

I was talking to an older van guy today at a car show and he was telling me about how so many of the sought after parts today were a dime a dozen back in the early 80s. Thankfully there is still a few companies making some of the custom stuff.
