Not one 350 in a Ford. That is what I call crazy.
Not one 350 in a Ford. That is what I call crazy.
Haha. Economics. You can buy 5 running 350s for the cost of building a 302 to the equivalent.
The 1st pic that van needs a city block to make a left or right turn ....
You know what the REAL wild part is? From what I heard several years ago when those modified vans started showing up in Japan, they have to remove all of that each year to get the vans licensed...
Thats like us takin off all the smog stuff after it passes .... time for smog check .... put it all back on .... or removin the cat converter for 2-3 hrs .... lol
You know what the REAL wild part is? From what I heard several years ago when those modified vans started showing up in Japan, they have to remove all of that each year to get the vans licensed...
Known as Dekotora trucks and vans in Japan. its quite the craze. I have an interest in them as I own a couple of Japanese cabover trucks.
I remember taking off all the smog stuff come registration time when I lost my buddy down at the local Standard Station.
That Pizza delivery pic is off the hook and I believe that 4-Wheel Drive 70's Pontiac was Rusty's Car in High School !
Some wild and crazy rides there
A 4Xpontoon ...
Never have I ever ...
The pontoon is to much
That pontoon sand rail is off the hook. As my Dear ol' Daddy would say: That guy has " F-U " Money !
frscke1 : Going for the " High Brow " Humor for all the " learnered folk " huh .
Thought that " misfired wire " pic was me after a 3 Day Fire Party at the Kitchen table back in the day .
When I was a teenager, my dad was taking me and my girlfriend somewhere and we pulled over to check out the car.
He was complaining of a miss, so he and I got out, opened the hood, and started checking wires and such.
After he'd inspected the ignition a bit, he asked my girlfriend to crank the car.
She did...
...and it bit him.
He yelled out, "Aaaaaahhhh!"
...And she thought she'd killed him.
That happened over 30 years ago, but it still makes me laugh every time I think about it.
I bet the kids get to school on time.
Love this mini van.....its definitely not the Mom's soccer van
I'm digging it. I remember mid-late 90s me and my pop were sitting at a stop light in Daytona Beach FL listening to what sounded like a full on drag car thump and cackle. We were looking around and could not decide on exactly what it was coming from saying it sounds like the direction of that van, but also saying nah, not that thing. Dead stock looking Astro sitting across the way from us at the other light. Lights turned green and the little Astro lifted the front wheels about 6" off the ground and shocked the heck out of us.
Those are the tires & rear end I want for my White Rhino ...
Then you could call it "Drag Queen"!
With a name like that I'd bet they'd play nothing but Cher Live Concerts !!
Then you could call it "Drag Queen"!..
NOT A CHANCE OF THAT HAPPENING !
Rusty: I recommend a 2 month prescription of listening only to UFO and this will snap you back on track !
Then you could call it "Drag Queen"!..
NOT A CHANCE OF THAT HAPPENING !
Dude! You don't have to yell.
Rusty: I recommend a 2 month prescription of listening only to UFO and this will snap you back on track !
I'm 100% sure that would only make me worse.
Then you could call it "Drag Queen"!..
NOT A CHANCE OF THAT HAPPENING !
Dude! You don't have to yell.
LOL
I need one of those for the Samurai!
HAHAHA! I'm dying over here!
"Yer killin me Smalls...!"
Thats wild!
LMAO! I've seen some weird stuff done with beetles, but that's a first.
A turbo for a van ... also a inner cooler
Both are great photo finds.
OH WHAT FUN THAT WOULD BE >>>
Is this what they mean by " reverse engineering " ?
Heater core replacement ...
Heck you could cook your breakfast on the way to work !
WHY ?
Cute pup ...
That last pic = no kidding; ain't it the truth.
A wrench clamp ?
No why didn't I think of the " wrench clamp " ?
Or one winter in the NE ...
Found it !
That scooter pic is The Best !
Really Ill take it ....lol
My brother when he was younger ...
Funny
cool snow machine ...
I bet yours would have a 454 and a Tunnel Ram
Power grab ...
Nice Chops ...
Both are cool for sure; that Dodge is pretty tuff looking; rear rubber off the hook.
awww pops ....
Knock Knock ...
I remember the chopped Dodge. That Dodge is/was a mid-engine on a rear sub-frame. You could view the engine thru the side window. The van was actually built with two interchangeable rear sub-frame assemblies. One for street and a blown hemi set-up for the strip......
Haven't seen it in many years.
Hey frscke1 = that previous cartoon/joke was " corny "
( sorry; couldn't resist )
Teach them right ...
Oh my ....
Thats not good
gas vs no gas
Now there's a bumper !
Even if she didn't do that; I'd put something on it !
That "dashboard" light joke was the best of the bunch.
"Horsepower" joke wins this round.
Hit it harder ...
Nice ones
Cresent Wrench brand motor mounts ....lol
American Ingenuity !!
OMG ! That last pic/bolt joke was HILARIOUS
Bolted to the gas tank LOL ...
No way can this be for real
A 6 cyl now a 4 ....lol
Hey come on; obviously he was on his lunch break.
Hey come on; obviously he was on his lunch break.
You take things toooo serious Mickey there jokes, most of them. Some are serious.....
If you zoom in on that hitch to 500% it looks more like a trunk to me? The square stock looks a little thin as well. If it's a gas tank, I want to know how he sealed it. for sure. IDK, my Impala had a trunk and the tank was in the rear like all my vans, so. Looong ass U bolts.
I'd feel much more confident if he'd fix that, upgrade the hardware to U bolts and put some 1/4 inch plates inside and out.
I did run over my Baby Sister in Law's Tricycle with my 65 Chevy Impala. Tammy was crying because I backed up over her bike, I was crying because the axle punctured the tank and I had just put 5 bucks in. Found one and pulled it at the junkyard. In town! Tammy got new bike for Christmas.
Shure wish I would have know about that trailer hitch bolted through trick though.
I wouldn't have had to take the trunk lid off every time I hauled my dirt bike.
That first one is me. 100%
The last one is how I feel when I wake up in the morning! 110%!
Toss up between the Ford Aluminum body and body shop pics . Funny
lol
That last one is scary stupid.
My F-250 has that aluminum body. It holds up good in some ways, but the paint scratches if you look at it wrong.
Sell your truck was my Sister. "No more Cars..." LOL. Um yeah, married happily to Bobby now!
Allison, is my Ex! "You love that car more than you love me!" While I wrench away warp factor 5 to get the 394 '61 Olds Super 88 to the Drive in by dark.
Bobby's Uncle passed back East and left him his factory BBC Nova Coupe.
Looked up my Tilesetter Rick, who taught me the Trade. Learned alot from him. More, even after I watched him as he contracted through 2 up n downs, 2 Bk's.
Doing fine now. All good Married 39 years. Good job Rick! NorCal, retired.
"Yeah, we bought a house up in Paradise, Cali, in 2018..."
All safe, 40+ years and the house gone. New 3 acre Ranch now but. Damn.
The Caddy: " waiting on federal now "
I see ...
Dude. I mow my lawn with a Honda return from HD. It's a Timex Bro. That's how I mow.
And now the Site is running truck ads from all the Dodge Dealers I looked at Ram trucks on. LOL.
I did schedule in with a coupon off the dealer website. Full Synthetic oil change for $29.95. I promise I'll be strong. Really have no choice. Econ 101
You can get Mobil 1 at Walmart cheeper ... 1 qt runs $7-8 but Wally World has a 5 qt for $25. ... It takes 8 qts (with 2 qt filter) to do a oil change.
Put a Carquest 2 qt oil filter on it also ...
$29,99 even with a coupon there gonna use CHEAP syn.
LOL you DONT NEED a new truck (you just paid off the one you have) ...you NEED a Jaccuzzi for your back.
I rolled the Dice on the Mexican Dodge, and called it right. Done. All Electric new by 2030, anyway, I think my Shorty will make it. No Worries, I'm good.
I do know for a fact that I am not the only person who has watched our paychecks shrink up over the past ONE year like a frigid nutsack.
Godspeed Vannerland

#1 is Robbie After telling Barry, Don't pay him any mind, I've got this, you'll see, Stand down, Marine." Whew. Barry was upset that the scruffy rude longhaired Finish Carpenter wouldn't turn down his music so Barry could think and concentrate on all the mud measurements for tile layout so we could get a move on to start floating this massive masterbath/shower. Not a good idea. At all. Many stories. Not peaceful, like this one!
Barry is the Guy at Ruhm Tile that would smoke cigarettes', surveying the scene for Danger standing in the L corner outside the shop in the mornings as I loaded up his and Dieter Meyer's Shop truck with Marble for the day. Fresh Viet Nam Veteran then.
All the second shot is missing is that Dude's van in the middle of the lake as we all drove away at the end of the day. It was a steep ass dirt drive up out of the lot and Robbie watered that down real goood tooo. Bonus! Friday night...
Excellent choices as usual frscke1
1974.
Rings, check. Paperwork, check, Preacher, check. Band, check.
Best Man, check. Pastor's trying to get through the ceremony, double triple take glancing down at sharply dressed cowboy booted Bolo tied Best Man's Ginormous Buck Knife.
He did shake it off, and a good time was had by all.

That second one is the truth!
That 2nd pick is HILARIOUS !!!
Betty is a keeper
I used to gauge those pinch clamps at Tridon, we made them by the millions, big, small, and some have a locking tab, when going down the shoot, the locking tab ones could trigger an entire tote, clamps spring out all over the place.
LOL I can believe that ....lol
That hinge pic as the gas pedal is a 1st for me
...
Can't reiterate that thought enough,
teach the kids.
What little knowledge and or history I have I try to pass to my kids and grand-kids,
While today we have more resources at our fingertips than our predecessors could ever dream about I often find myself looking at a problem and asking "how would gramps handle this?"
It's so sad these days that so many kids don't grow up like many of us did; with everybody helping each other; sharing their experience and talents with almost everything being done in your garage or a buddy's garage.
Kids today dont want to get their hand dirty workin .... they want office/ internet jobs

That black drag car is off the hook

At training back East, We had to develop and present a lesson plan. We were in a brand new facility, that had dorms, cafeteria, etc. State of the art training facility.
I, for one, was not happy we weren't staying in the full amenity hotel we were at in previous years. and training at the Maritime Institute of Technology. No pool, weight room, indoor courts, sauna, lounge with drinks! 5 star restaurant. Yeah.
So. My lesson plan was on Safety. Electrical Safety.
In my room, I looked behind the head of the bed, and there was an electrical receptacle there with a plug that was smashed up against the wall between the metal bed frame and the wall. Holee Shit! I checked. Every single room in this place had exactly the same thing. MAJOR POTENTIALLY FATAL HAZARD, IN EVERY ROOM...
I took pictures wrote it all up, and my presentation was a big hit! NOT!!!!!!
Right on frscke1 ! That flip flops are unsafe is HILARIOUS
I like the one with Dada and his Son. Reminds me so much of Billy. His first words were Truck Tire! Working on the motorcycles was so much safer.
My Chevy Shorty was his jungle gym. One ER trip cured that.
On Saturday instead of cartoons, He'd have wrenches spread out and come drag me out the door! Love that little Guy!
...
Either that, or he used all of his luck up in one shot.
Good point.
...
I'm going to spend a bunch getting my Subaru brake line fixed. I never thought of vice grlps. Too late now.
Wow ! and those vice grips look like they've been there awhile

Thats just funny ...a guy thinkin he's gonna make money on this van
But ya never know ....
Knock knock, Cyl #3 brought back some toasted motor memories.
On a lonely stretch of 395 South, just past 4 Corners at about 15 miles out of Lancaster, Bill passed a Semi.
It was 115 degrees outside, and that little '94 4WD S10 Chevy Blazer 4.3 700R4 kicked down all the way into low at 40 MPH. Woah! I got it around the Semi but something was way wrong, and I could feel the power drop off a cliff, as the oil pressure went to Zero!
After which it had settled into what seemed to be a semi sweet spot at 40mph and held it ok, for the time being.
So, I'm thinking, I can make it to U-haul in Lancaster. It's 115 degrees, the motor is toast, I am not stopping.
When the Semi passed me back not long afterwards, the Wifey woke up and asked, "What's going on? Why are we going so slow? and "WHAT is that noise???"
"Oh, that?
That My Dear, is the sound of mechanical failure..."
...
That ad sure brought back memories......
Whoa Nellie! I'll say. $1800 Cobra's, $1400 Super Bee's. Be still my Heart! A million Bucks on that page nowadays.

Looks like my shorty, not happy how he cut into a diagnostic plug to power a switch he added to the blower motor for heat, had he any common sense he would have used a voltmeter and sound the relay by the battery, what powers many items on the dash, it was bad, his hacking ended up causing me to replace the relay, blower motor resistor, blower motor, and loss of the cold air intake, it had to be pulled to get access to the fan motor, reinstallation requires removing the entire front clip of the van, yanking out is easy, putting back is impossible.
Rusty in his younger years ....

I hate to admit it but I really like that layout, a second full bath with one less bedroom would be my only change,,,
Indoor plumbing!!
I grew up in a two bedroom with a path.....
There are a lot of those houses here on the Island, most are no further than 500 feet from the tracks. They are still quite solid and true. I have worked on quite a few of them and you can still see the numbers on the unfinished side of things.

Plus, it looks the same and is in the same place in the gauge cluster...

I miss my $250 '65 Chevy Impala 2 door, 283/glide. Also the free! '61 Olds Super 88 394 4bbl. 325hp/4speed auto. Super low first gear, similar to the V6 GMC trucks. Hit second and up in smoke. lol.
The $1500, Chevy C10 shorty 292/4sp, swapped in a 327, first of many work trucks. At least DogVan was cheap, $1000.

I liked it too.
The only problem I see is there's no toe space at the bottom.
fixin a broken leaf with a crow bar lol...
At first glance,I thought that second one was a traction bar...
Or, a traction crow bar, if you will.
Then I noticed that it was a tandem axle trailer, and it was acting as the rest of the leaf spring.

Brites, clutch, brakes, gas and .....
Consider myself a pretty experienced gearhead but I cant recall what the one to the right of the gas pedal is for. Overdrive? Jake brake? Ejector seat? Beer dispenser? If my van had that I would definitely hook it up to something haha!
Starter. Linkage connected it to the starter motor (or commencer as they were called)..
Never heard the old phrase "Step on the starter"?

The new Motorcycle Salvage yard on Mission Ave in Escondido was a paradise.
Crazy mods was the '65 Impala Camino sans trunk lid, wish I had a picture.
Bought that car for $250 dollars through our neighborhood legendary mechanic role model hero, Mike Musia.
Sliding through the snow out to Borrego, hauling the wife's built from a $20 seized Cycle Salvage Kawasaki trailbike. She only got one ticket on the street. On that bike.
And! Bad motor dirt bike combined with stripped but new motor street bike, a sold to me by sad owner for $12 impound fee, recovered stolen, titled but kinda not all there, new! Kawasaki 100 street bike!

Pair of pliers I never understood that one myself, all good stuff real good.
Each one is a pair.
There are two sides connected with a bolt/pin and each side is called a plier.
Same as scissors, two sides and each is called a scissor.
That's also why their name ends with an "s".....because there's two of 'em....
2%
I know what a bag of hammers is.
1 pair of pliers and 2 pair of pliers ... is there more than 1 hammer in your bag ? lol
I'm more of a box of rocks guy.
"What's that noise?" "Why are we going so slow?" "What IS that?"
(Not noticing the Zero oil pressure..)
.
"That, my Dear. Is the sound of mechanical failure..."
How far did the mighty 4.3 make it? In 115 degrees? 15 miles into town, and died after struggling up onto the U-Haul trailer. Succumbing, in a last grunting gasp, of box of rocks glory!!
It don't get good till the rods make a special appearance outside the block..oh I have been there.at the very least there are two hammers hence plural..lol
Not proud of the motors I've cooked. But. Some returned to glory.
The OG 283 in the '65 Impala 2 door. "The rings came out in pieces..." Which went on to power an Econorail in front of a modified Powerglide. Carlsbad Raceway.

Last pic. " No Sh@! " . How couuld you not Love a Classic
Few days ago helped a guy that painted his 302 a beautiful shade of blue, and at the same time didnt tape off or cover anything. Didnt use assembly lube, left it open to the elements in a dirty barn, and even threw all the rockers/pushrods in a dirty bucket with all the head bolts.
Poor dog but stellar paint job , dig the extra attention to detail, wheels tires and all
That "cassette" struggle pic is Funny; ( seem to remeber it didn't happen as much with the 8-tracks !

Wow. This guy must have some serious disposable income. These 3 wheeler Hondas are worth a small fortune
Honda sure went rogue with the 3-wheelers. They were awesome. One wrong move!
BQ. Before Quads. What was the biggest motor they put in these, a 250cc screamer?
To clarify, zero dig on Mickey. Just pointing out it could be worse!
We'd always humorously torment the drivers on the jobsite. Even though that is a very necessary service. IDK if Mickey drives a pump truck or not? If so, he gets the joke!!
It's kinda like the piecework Fed-Ex truck driver's joke. Whatcha never wanna see behind you in the rain.
UPS guys love that one. Big Brown!!!
There may even be a Jobsite Hijinks thread on here.

Good one's #1! I'm more of an overheat and spun bearing guy myself.
Passed a Semi 15 miles out of the nearest town on HWY 395, '94 S10 Blazer. Well we were going semi slow, upon throttle input, it kicked down into first, ooh didn't want that. Worked hard around the Semi, the oil pressure went to Zero. When the Semi passed us back, (Didn't take long!) The wifey wakes up.
"Why are we going so slow? And WHAT is that sound? (2 syllable what!!)
"Well, That, my dear, is the sound of mechanical failure...
"Well, aren't you gonna stop?"
"Ahh no. It's 110 degrees outside, the motor is already toast. Were driving straight to the nearest U-Haul in the AC Honey."
Kept it running. When the U-Haul truck and trailer were ready, Nursing it up onto the trailer. It protested heavily. "Quit Resisting!" (Stabs throttle!)
Finally made it up into position on the trailer just as the motor ahh, quit.
Good Times!!
I like the burnouts.. so true
