Ahoy friends! I stumbled upon this community/forum while trying to find a fuel sending unit for my 36 gallon plastic fuel tank.
I recently purchased a 1977 Plymouth Voyager (PB100) off of Craigslist here in Portland which has this huge tank, but the tank itself needed cleaned out something bad. Since I live in a small apt building I had it towed it to a mechanic to get it cleaned out and to properly dispose of all the crap within. The caveat now is that the mechanic can't seem to find a proper sending unit (the old one disintegrated upon deinstallation) so the task is now mine. Let the search begin!

I should also note, I know jack about vehicle repair....well until last month at least. I figured 4 solid decades on this earth, I should probably learn. A friend of mine said that a 1977 era vehicle would be perfect to learn on so I figured what the hell. So far I figured out how to replace the carburetor, fuel pump and flush the fuel line, repair and fill in small rust spots. Not bad for a lazy bum like me! I now find myself talking about engines and stuff with people as if I actually know what Im talking about. I find myself learning though and thats what I want right now.

This van is like a blank canvas to me, ripe for a tune up and a little tender loving restoration. Looking forward to getting this thing on the road, drinking beers in the back and listening to Sabbath at top volume with the doors open by the beach. I look forward to conversing with y'all and learning more about my beast, for which I have dubbed....The Goblin.

Sounds like a replacement tank of some sort? I'm no Dodge expert, but I can't imagine a 36 gallon plastic tank as std. in 1977.

If it is a generic aftermarket piece, you may have to check with RV dealers, or someone like that, to see if a replacement is available.

You may have to resort to something generic, like on e of these, or something like them.

Yes, it totally is a replacement though as I converse with folks, I hear different things. The person I purchased it from stated the tank is definitely a weird replacement. The mechanic that currently has the van says the same thing and is unable to pinpoint the proper sending unit. Though I found this thread https://www.vanning.com/threads/ubb...l-guage-sending-unit-76-dodge#Post738014, I called the Collectors Auto Supply and the sales rep I spoke to states the 36 gallon plastic tank was std on some vans around this time. I believe I also saw the same thing in a thread pertaining to 76 Dodge vans.
One thing I did not check out is a Mopar forum. I may find something there. At this point, I feel like I'm missing out on some quality summer time and I may be making a mountain out of a mole hill. Thank you for the Amazon links. I believe Im going to go down that path. I have some road trips to take, I'm tired of not having this van.

Congrats on your van. An old school van is definitely the best way to learn. None of that crazy computer stuff to give you a hard time. Look up the Rolling death van club out of Portland. Great guys.

Thanks Lukester! Yes, I heard about Rolling Death from a dude I played a show with here in Portland. He had a sweet Black 77 Tradesman as his band vehicle. I think he is part of the club here. None the less I look forward to participating in some rallies soon.
