Going to be doing the seam sealer in my gutters. Likely I'll be using 3M 08307 Self leveling From here:
https://www.stockwiseauto.com/3m-co...cs?gclid=CIb6-dq1ptICFY62wAodpj8MHw&And the 3M 08571 applicator gun seen here:
https://www.amazon.com/3M-08571-Manual-Cartridge-Applicator/dp/B002QWYG1OMy question is how many of the seam sealers will I need to go all the way around the gutter on a 1985 Chevy mid-length? I was thinking 2? But I don't want to buy too much, or more worse come up short. There is all kinds of info out there, but nothing that I could find about how far it might go.
I bought 3 of them.. We'll see how it goes.
is this to keep them from filling with crap? or are they rusty and leaky?
The original seal sealer was all old and cracked (even missing in spots). I've chiseled/wire wheeled the rest of the old seam sealer out and am going to replace with new.
tuner4life, I'm about to do the same project. Was the 3 plenty? Would you use that product again?
i am interested in how many you used also. my 79 is showing the same as yours
Looked through his build thread and he said 3 just barely covered the mid length Chevy. He recommended 4.
Nice pick-up kursed, I have a buddy about to tackle this job.
The product you are using is an excellent choice. The biggest thing is getting all the old seam sealer out, then use an etching or epoxy primer in the drip rail area. Once that has cured, scuff it up with a Red Scotchbrite Pad for adhesion, tape it off to avoid spillage and fill the rain gutters full.
That two part seam sealer cures quickly so it needs to be applied quickly and definitely not to be done in the sun.
Paint the seam sealer in the same manor, with the same paint used on the vehicle. You won't be doing it again.
Better to return one tube than run out while doing the work.
nice to know from someone who has done the job
i am about to tackle this on my shorty. Was researching and a lot of people swear by the Dicor Self Leveling stuff... anybody here use it?
I use Dicor self leveling (white) on the RV roof. It never actually sets up, stays flexible. Maybe it's different stuff?

probably the same stuff. does it seem to hold up pretty well?
