I just bought an 81 B150. The guy put new plugs and wires, cap and rotor on, did basic service. Will turn over but not start. Put gas in the carb, but nothing..... thinking it's the ballast resistor, but can't find it.... what do you gents and ladies think is the issue? Got spark from distributor and coil, and if it was a fuel issue, it should start with a bit of gas down the throat of the carb.

I'm not sure about the 81 model but in 85 it is on the fire wall. If you are looking under the hood it will be to the left of the wiper motor.

If you do dump a little gas down the carb PLEASE be careful. Make sure you have a fire extinguisher on hand. Just last week we had a small fire in my son's van using starter fluid. No damage but we did have to break out the extinguisher.
We always have a fire extinguisher in each van.

Could you snap a few pics of the location(s)? I have worked on vintage vehicles for decades and this one has be stumped.
