Hey guys,

Does anyone know if there is a way to remove the Oil Pan easily off of a 72' Dodge b200? It looks as though the support beam is going to block me from removing it completely...I would like to avoid having to hoist the engine up to egt it off, so if any of you guys have an info for me on how best to do this it would be greatly appreciated!

I did it on my '73 B300 which I think is pretty much the same sort of deal, or even may be exactly the same.

I guess it all depends on what you call "easily". As far as I can remember I did have to raise the engine but it was just a case of undoing the mounts and jacking it from underneath (I think I had a wooden block on the jack under the front pulley and lifted from the front end). I definitely didn't have to unbolt the transmission.

The main thing that gets in the way of sliding out the pan is the oil pump pickup and you have to sort of feed it around at funny angles, but it does come out (well mine did).

When you put it back together you also have to be careful with how the seals fit around the front end timing cover area as some of them go together at different angles.

I did mine to investigate a bad oil pressure issue which eventually turned out to be just a defective (new) Fram filter !!

Fram is garbage. I wouldn't use one on a lawn mower. Wix or NAPA.

Yeah - my hot idle pressure went from like 5 psi to 20.

Thanks for the info! I'll let you know how I get on, although I can't say I'm excited at having to do all that work just to change the pan gasket!? Ugh!
