Hello all. Now that we have officially moved back into the van the dripping from our rear and side doors during a rain is more obvious and annoying (given it soaks our sleeping area).

Does anyone have any good ideas? You can tell on both sets of doors that the majority of the water is coming in from the actual top crack of the door. Also, on one rear one it comes in under the black seal that runs around the window (though I'm not sure it isn't still entering at the top and then following the seal down).

Has anyone successfully fixed this issue?

I am not aware of anyone reproducing Dodge weathgerstrip for the side and rear doors. Options might be adjust the doors so they close tighter, adjust the doors so they sit higher in the opening and put more pressure on the top, put a very thin strip of stick-on weatherstrip across the top of the door opening (get it from a home improvement store), fill the top portion of the weatherstrip with silicone, or find some god used weatherstrip at a junkyard.

Thanks, Reed. I hadn't been able to find any. Given that we are on the road again I guess I could try some of the weatherstrip that I have and perhaps that will suffice for the time being. We're not in the position to re-adjust the doors. I'd heard mixed success with the silicone usage so not totally sure of that one yet.

Thanks for your input. I'll see what I can come up with.

By the way, is anyone making the black seal that the window rests against? Ours seem to have shrunk over the years and have pulled in from the corners.

Are the windows the opening style or the fixed style? I am not aware of anyone reproducing the weatherstrip for Dodge van windows. On my 89 Ford the opening side door windows leaked. I ended up sticking thin self-adhsive foam weatherstrip on the window. I had to do it on the bottom ond both sides to get a good seal.

Hey, Reed.

They are the opening style with the latch at the bottom center. After you wrote last time I looked more closely at the doors and noticed that the tops of them were out from the frame. Although I don't know that this will solve my leak problem (since I think they've always leaked and not always been out at the top) I will definitely try to re-align them first. I have tried some of that sticky thin foam in other areas. It isn't bad but if I didn't do a complete strip I noticed that it sealed one section and left another open.

Maybe a re-alignment first and then see what happens. It will be a few weeks before I am in a position to try the realignment. Hopefully no more rain before then.

If you have any other ideas do let me know.

You can also look for generic door seals that are thicker than what you currently have and see if that will seal it up better. . .

Check these guys out, first I found searching Van Door Seal Gaskets
