Considering buying a G20 that needs a new engine - it threw a rod. It’s in good shape otherwise, former government vehicle, new transmission, and priced right.

Looking for opinions about whether the engine replacement will be worth it. Cost (I can’t do it myself), other issues that could come up, etc.

Thanks!

Salvage yard engine, you pull yard from a vehicle marked run and drive is the best bet, going to pay through the nose for labor if you can't do at least some of the work yourself.

About 3 years ago I bought a crate 350 light truck engine from Jegs for $1800. Paid a shop a $1000 to install it. Took 31/2 days.

I'm betting that labor cost will double in CA and possibly the time too.
