I'd like to remove it but I'm not sure how to support the engine.

but it's still not very clear to me.. there no pictures and well, I don't want the engine to fall or break something.
If I only support the oil pan, isn't the engine going to crush the pan ?
Also the pan can't really be supported in front, because of the crossmember.

I think I supported the oil pan using a thick wide piece of wood (scaffolding plank off-cut) on jack stands and a heavy duty ratchet strap around the front of the engine that hung from a beam across the hood.

Nope, you won't crush the oil pan unless it's overly rusty or something. I just used some wood under the pan supported by jackstands while I dropped the subframe. Just make sure everything is stable and leave the trans mount to hold up the rear and you will be fine.

The oil pan looks in good shape and has been protected by a years of oil leakages...
