79 Chevy Van ex Delta - January 19th 2018 8:07 am

This is my Van...
Ist a 1979 flattop. He came to me in a real [censored] condition. Metaldamages, without real Interior, and a 350 without power.
The engine is now complete new inside with a few Things to get more power.
the Interior is completly new. The seats are upholstert by my self with my little housewife sewingmachine.
this year i must have new Brakes and new Shocks, coil springs and so on.
my plan is to flip the rear axle and drop spindles in the front.
my Problem is that the most eby sellers dont ship to Germany aaand i dont know which drop spindles and flip kits fits in my van. And i cant send the parts back if they dont fit. it must fit at first time.
so i hope someone can help me.
by the way,is my english readable?

here some pics. more pics later.must search

Look classy on the interior.
I like the doghouse/carpet match. How did you glue it to the round areas without bunching up?
What did you use for the walls?

I'm working on the interior of mine from a donor van.
Without a helper, I had to cut pieces to hold the 1/2 plywood to the roof so I could mount it.
This photo shows how I got the exact height I needed. Then I lifted the 4 x 8 with my head and jammed the supports under it.

Then I was able to put the donor vans roof panel in.

Looks like a great project! It's come a long way already and I look forward to seeing what else you do with it.

Your English is just fine. Better than many who were born into it.

As for lowering your suspension, the drop knuckles you need will be from a C10 pickup, There are 2 different versions that depend on the diameter and thickness of the brake rotor. The amount of drop will vary based on your desire.

The rear is already axle over spring, so a flip would only raise it up. There isn't much you can do to lower the rear without notching the frame rails.

Mine has 2.5" drop spindles in the front and stock sagging rear leaf springs. This is how it sits. I wouldn't recommend much lower than that unless your roads are very smooth. the tires sometimes rub the fenders even like this.

Hey...thanks.
the walls are ääähhm shit in german say half hard woodfiber to this .and than leatherette(?). glue was Pattex Classic on the woodfiber and the same as spray on the leather. press it on and ready. the only shit with this glue is the Problem that you dont make a mistake, because its not corrigible.
the carpet at the doghouse is really simple. you draw a line where the dashboard ends, than cut two pieces carpet in this size. one left, one right, glue on both sides and press it on the biggest area. than up and down, where the carpet make cateyes you cut it and press on.ready...

to the rotor thickness, i mean i have the 1,25" Rotors, ist a g20.
and the rear axle is now under the leaf spring.

Hey Tuner,
I like the 8" rally wheels with the beefy tires.
What size rubber is that?

The 5 lug are hard to find.

It's got 225/70/15 in the rear and 225/60/15 in the front in that picture.

In my area it's the 6 lug rallys that are hard to find. The 5 lugs are everywhere around here.

Re: 79 Chevy Van ex Delta - March 17th 2018 1:05 pm

question:
To lowering the front I´d look to use drop spindles. Fit original 6,5x15 steelies with 2,5 or 3" drop spindles?
specially mean the steering and lower balljoints. And are the parts from "spindle source" useable? Or is it junk?

next question:
Would someone be so friendly and send me drop spindles and a flip kit for the rear to Germany? Or is this complicated or difficult? If yes, its Ok. Then I must search other ways.

At eBay no one send this parts to Germany.
