Nope, no problem here.

Interesting thing is the fuse box on the other side (which might be so high up on the firewall as to be on top of the firewall plug...GM didn't want anybody to find the damn thing) doesn't show any heat damage, my headlight and ignition switches work, the fusible links aren't barbecued....
Other than the fact I don't have instrument lights or turn signals right now, it'd be the case of the miraculous firewall plug.
The voltmeter or ammeter is not functional but oil pressure and temp works. Gas gauge has a reading, don't know if it's right... I know Dodge ammeters are basically first off the battery, so has at least two full current cables connecting at the plug that'll barbecue it if there's a lot of corrosion in the contacts. This is way more general than that kind of damage...

Anybody got a wiring diagram for an 82?

Just be careful if you separate the inside from the outside (2 screws on the inside, and the bolt on the outside) as if you don't get a good seal you'll get water on the floor boards when it rains. The hood hinges basically divert water right to the fuse box (YIKES!) There is a gasket that is between the inside and outside and it does a good job of keeping the water out if it is intact, if you rip it when separating the sides it doesn't work so well.... :-).

Ps, that's how my 83 looks but I have no electrical problems.

That's how mine looks too, as well as every one I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure GM coated them with some sort of tar-like goop as a sealer.

When I worked at the Chevy dealer in the early 90s they had a bulletin about that. I sprayed canned rust proofed on the box and never had a problem on my 90.

You can also seal/glue a plastic baggy like a little awning above the connection to divert the water.
All my later models have a piece of plastic just like that from the factory. crazy

My 82 looks the same. I thought there had been a fire under the hood or something.
