ok., I need to change the water pump on my astro.

I see some pumps listed as high volume? is this helpful? or just a gimmick?
does it hurt to use one or should I stay with a normal volume one?

anything I should watch out for?
anything else I should do while I am at it?

Anytime I change a water pump, I replace the thermostat, radiator hoses, and drive belts. Youtube is a great reference for videos on how-to disassemble and assembly.

And while you're in there, check the tensioner, pulley, and idler pulley on the serpentine belt rotating system.
Some say to R&R the tensioner anyway.

I've also seen 3 A/C clutch bearing failures. Two on the Dodge smallblocks @ around 150000 miles. The 1990 454 @ 79000 miles. Old age and the red dirt that blows down here from Vanada...

Edelbrock sure thinks their water pumps are slick. IDK personally, but I'll bet that they're shiny!
