Vannin' Home Forums Thread Like Summary - BEST WAY TO TAP INTO THE BACKUP LIGHT CIRCUIT?

In the middle of installing the wiring for my 91 "shorty". Plan on installing a back up camera system with the monitor being placed on the front edge of a ceiling console I have for it (from an older Trailblazer). Need to connect the power to the back up light circuit so it automatically turns when when I shift into reverse. Wondering where would be the best location to do that? I current have the dash cover off....just finished installed the sound system wiring and have a couple more power lines to run for interior lights, etc... So have pretty good access to all the wire harnesses in the van.

Forgot I made a cup of coffee, not going anywhere, The switch is about 4 inches from firewall and my wires are Blue. Green. If you jump it with a wire and your lights come on, you got the right tail. Remember one wire is hot the other the switch leg for the lights.

I have no back or side windows. I wired mine into the running lights so it's on with my headlights. It allows me to see behind me when I'm driving. I can keep an eye on my mini bike when it's back there on the cargo rack.
