Is it possible to remove the oil pan on a 1980 Dodge van with the engine in the van to replace the oil pump

Yes. The gasket is a pain tho, it's a 4-piece deal and it's tough to keep in place when you're putting it all back together, use some weatherstripping adhesive to keep it in place and you should be ok.
