I bought my '95 with a rod nock(spun rod bearing)knowing i would have major engine work or a swap ahead of me...couldn't resist the deal! got it for $900. the blue book on it with a good motor is $3,500. so even if i put in a $1,000. remanufactured motor i'll still come out ahead. BUT Not too happy that is a V6 would've rather bought a Magnum V8 van...MY QUESTION IS:

How hard would it be to but a Magnum V8 engine in my van?? my friend/mechanic says its alot of work("too much")to swap it to a V8 he said i have to change: the computer, the wiring harness, probably different tranny, maybe the k frame...etc etc.
Anybody out there that has done this swap or a chrysler mechanic that would know?? any feedback is appreciated...VAN ON!

Greetings Big Daddy;

I don't know exactly how difficult the swap would be in that year van, but from past experience on other (Older) vehicles (mostly Mopars) any engine "CHANGE" can wind up costing more than expected. I did a swap last winter for a friend in a Dodge van. Same engine, rebuilt from a reputable company 'Jasper' with a guarantee. The engine was $1400, plus tax (I think) new gaskets (the ones that didn't come with the engine) hoses, belts, plugs, wires, etc. was probably around $500. You would be looking at extra expenses for "CHANGE" parts.

You have to think is that the way to go "OR" put the same engine in it...sell it...and buy another van with a V-8. If you have to change the computer (I don't really know if you do) you could be looking at a large expense, or a bigger head ache trying to find a used one that works.

Good luck, Let us know what you descide to do.

Personally, I think the answer is in the post topic, "BLOWN" magnum v6. Ever look into what the supercharger companis can do for you? If they can get a 4 cylinder civic to run with one, well.....

Or do something like Bonehead did, find a similar rollover wreck with the engine you want, then you'll have ALL the stuff you need!
