95 Chevy g30. I am replacing the original rear leaf springs and front coils because after 30 years there is sagging on my G30 1995 roadtrek. So much sag when I bought airlift airbags it was too lowered to fit them in. the space. I think only have 3" inches where the airbag should go where there should be 7". With all the tanks and generator and equipment she is really heavy (35gallon fresh water, and the 20gal grey and 10gal black tank). I was assuming the van already had from the factory HD coil springs up front, but maybe not. any recommendations on front coils? I see some for sale with specs like "3789 lbs per rate coil and other brands some say "sever duty" and some without any coil rating but that say "35% over stock" . Some different brands look like they are from the same factory. Im gravitating towards the ones that say 3789 lbs per coil but there is one that is 7200 lbs per coil. some say they add a 1" lift to the front others 1/2" lift over stock. Because I sleep in the van I like to have her level, but I will have rear airbags with independant split fill for leveling the rear and when driving I might raise the rear to improve steering. (I am not doing front air inside the coil because I reviews say sometimes they fail I guess because rocks or debris get caught in them and then they rub and puncture, I sometimes go on dirt roads so i am not getting front airbags, so just rear.) I pasted below is what I see out there for sale on coils.

Because I am installing rear airbags I figure for the rear leaf to just get brand new leaf spring of the exact same specs as the oem that is in there now. I count 6 leafs and see the same for sale, Even though I also see 8 leaf heavy duty rear springs for sale but that might change rear height. There is a website that sells the 8 for the same price as the 6 leaf. It looks like the same specs in terms of length and maybe it will fit? But is it necessary since I am doing the airbags in rear they also handle weight and make rear beefier. My thought right now is to stick with the 6 leaf. The thing is on flat ground when camping, I do not want the rear to naturally sit higher than the front. but if anyone had good experience and suggests the 8 leaf one is worthwhile upgrade let me know. I do not want the rear to naturally sit higher than the front when camping. I also do not want the front higher than rear. I only want to be able to raise rear when I choose from filling rear airbags, probably more done when driving to improve handling. I am also adding a hellwig rear stabilizer bar.

what prompted these upgraded was it that where I live is windy and want more control on hwy. I already added a front steering damper and bilstein shocks, that helps some already but not enough. On roadtrek forum people said the work on rear and airbags makes a huge difference.

Hey AT,

Welcome! Great info on all the springs. Super good links for the Chevy G 30 springs!

Nice Campervan! I have a similar unit, a 1994 Dodge B350 Xplorer class B MH.
It came with installed Hellwig 2500# helper springs in the rear. I run Bilstein's too.
I added Firestone Ride Rite airbags in the rear, separate lines at the license plate opening in the rear bumper. I really don't need to pump them up beyond 25 #

Before that it would smack the hitch in the gutter pulling out from ThreeT RV in El Cajon. Not anymore.

Good Wrenching AT and Van On!
