Im trying to install my new mags on the front of my 1980 Ford E150 van and the front disk brakes have that shoulder that locates the steel wheels. This shoulder sticks up about 7/16 and prohibits the wheel from sitting flush on the rotor. All rotors Ive seen for this van have that shoulder. The only workaround I can think of is have a machine shop machine this off. Are there any other ford trucks/vans from this era that are a replacement that dont have the shoulder or others that ran into this and what were your solutions?

Tough but easy anwer is to get a set of rims that clear the ridge on the rotors. That ridge is to center the rim on the hub. Stock rims have a center hole the right size to fit over that ridge. I have been running a set of American Racing slotted mags on first my 1984 E-150, them my 1990 E-150, and now my 1995 E-150 fr about 23 years. The center hole is sized for a 4x4 axle, so it sits nowhere near the hub on the front rotors. Maybe a wheel spacer would help?

Windows- they're what make a van worth owning!

I thought about a wheel spacer but the wheel studs are too short at that point and not enough thread engagement. Im thinking of taking them to a machine shop and having the hole opened up.Stock the holes are 3.27, they need to be 3.60 to clear That way the wheels always fit even if I need to replace the rotor/hub assembly. The wheels are said to fit early Dodge trucks and those dont have that shoulder. I was hoping some one was going to say "Oh just use this rotor, Its fits right on and your good to go.

This is an age old problem associated with the Econoline. My friend has had spacers on the front of his 1977 E150 for 47 years now with no problem. My 1976 is the same and never an issue. There are some spacers available on line or eBay that include longer studs so you can get a grip. But this adds another 1/2 in of width on both sides of vans that have a really wide front track already.

I agree with you regarding the extra width. The front is pushing toward being too wide unless I have flares and I know I would need to have spacers on the rear to keep both ends the same width.

Hey there in Lakeside MD 119 !! IDK if this helps, but it gives you more options,,,

Dodge 5 lug 5x5.5 pattern wheels have a larger center. I used Ford steelies and hogged out the centers to fit on the front of the Dodge when I dolly'd the B250.

On the 3rd gen Fords the front track is already wider than the rear. On my '88 I used to run spacers on the rear to get it out to the same width as the front. Had a set of ACR's?? on it.

I have two pair of front rotors with hubs machined down for torque thrust, I run a spacer and longer stud on rear and also run and ET acorn shank lug nut.
