Hey everyone,
We recently bought a 2013 GMC savana explorer conversion to use a kid hauler/ family hauler. We live out of town and truck the kids daily to school, picking up their cousins on the way. We used to have a Sprinter but it was getting awful , this one is a limo by comparison, never had the kids excited to go to school like this. We have the 32" Tv and we added an xbox to it. For data we use the cell as a hotspot ( unlimited data is great), so netflix and the like works very well. Everything about this purchase has been perfect except for one issue.. Daily, I have to boost the van. I did not add anything new to the van or remove anything. I know it has a 120v inverted under the passenger seat, but for the life of me I cannot find a way to power it off. It always on, which makes sense since you don't want to have the key to run just to chill out in the back. So am I missing something? The TV has power all the time ( blue standby LED is always on) which means the inverter is on.

Anyone have any idea what I could do?

Welcome to the site

May want to go into the inverter and wire in a toggle switch on your dash to shut off when not in use... or install solar panel to keep your batteries charged.

Or visit a GMC dealer to see if there is something already installed or a owners manual on what is installed.

Nice rig !

Good luck ( the toggle switch sounds like a quick fix and the right price )

From what you posted sounds like the van does mostly short trips? If yes it could be it’s not being driven long enough to keep the battery charged up….assume when the kids are being transported they are using all the electronics to keep them selves occupied while in route?…If yes maybe you should keep a smart charger on it when parked……just a thought…..

Recently purchased (10-2021) a 1991 Chevy G-20 “Shorty”. Past vans are a 1976 Chevy G-10 (purchased new in 1976 & sold in 1995). A 1978 Chevy G-20 Shorty purchased in 2010 and sold in 2015.

Yeah short trips will kill a battery quick ... no time to recharge.

battery may have been depleted so many times it wont take a charge

Yes you have a drain, and identified it. Fix that. You could also install a battery disconnect, but that will mess with all the pre-sets, radior, computer, ECM.
Does it have an alarm? Mine will drain my B250. Probably needs a charge right now. lol. Welcome X3R0!!!

Good wrenching!
