Having done way too much digging into the system on this van without any idea whats going on, I am hoping that someone has input or a wiring diagram.

The locks will unlock only. In particular from the drivers side switch only. After much poking and proding, I got the passenger side to work as well, but only for unlock. The relay on top of the steering column is functioning and doing its thing (that was a proper PITA to find), which led me and a friend to dig until we finally reached the keyless module. We have started board level testing on the module but at this point it is looking like loading the parts cannon. I'm not having the easiest time finding the module in my local yard either.

The previous owner appeared to have tried to fix the problem as only the drivers side lock swith is original. All the other switches, including windows, have been replaced and are cheap parts store junk... But thats another problem to be solved.

Not sure what you mean by “keyless entry locks”….do you mean power locks? Assume your trying to convert a “stock” power lock system to a system that uses a “remote” to lock and unlock? I would assume that all the actuators are a lot different from the “stock” ones as well as the switches…..different voltage & amp requirements…let alone the wiring…..not sure how hard it would be to all that to fit correctly…..good luck…..

Recently purchased (10-2021) a 1991 Chevy G-20 “Shorty”. Past vans are a 1976 Chevy G-10 (purchased new in 1976 & sold in 1995). A 1978 Chevy G-20 Shorty purchased in 2010 and sold in 2015.

Sounds like what ever problems your having is from a aftermarket set up. GM didnt have keyless entry in those yrs. Good luck fixing what a prev owner did.

It is definately a GM install, same computer module used in a lot of early '90s stuff from with I've found... Everything from a Cadillac right down to an F body Camero/Firebird. Looked up the RPO codes for in my glove box drawer thingy...

Hey Lothos, i feel your pain. Cool post. Good to know.

If we had dollars for every bad GM ABS module, fried dash, inop cruise control, broken stalks, bad clear coat, the change from 1057 bulbs to the rotting flat sockets, bad rear main seal, spun main bearings in the middle of the Mojave desert from a kickdown, lol, and now apparently the Holy Grail of GM electronics failures, the elusive early factory Savanah and Express, production power door/keyless entry lock system!

That garbage didn't come out of Tonawanda... cheers

Never trust the work that was done before you, including your own (or your friends).

Yet another friend came to visit from vermont a brougt a factory service manual with him so we started digging into it. Found that the light blue wire is open circuit no matter how you check it.

Does anyone know where the splice is in the light blue (unlock) wire? Presumably somewhere burried in the dash, but if it can be limited to an area, the FSM doesnt actually say where.
