As most of us know that the cost of having a vehicle completely repainted (correctly anyway) is getting to be very expensive and trying to find a high quality custom paint shop is also getting difficult and if you do wait times can be up to 2-3 years. Well there is one option that has come to “light” if you have a pretty good “older” paint job that seems to have passed it’s lifetime…..a friend of mine has a late 70’s vehicle (stock factory paint) that had all of those small surface cracks all over due to age and what ever else causes that, seemed that the only way to get it looking good again was a total repaint well the painter at the custom shop a lot of us in our area use has come up with a way to bring the current paint job back to life by simply lightly sanding the paint surface then applying a couple coats of clear and then doing the normal wet sanding and buffing. Well let me tell you it is just amazing how the part (a rear hatch cover) came out….good enough that he is going to have the rest of the vehicle done. Again this process will probably work only if your current paint job is old and sad looking but it is a cheaper option then a total repaint.
