I'm sure it is helpfull, but with the price of gas now, I bet more guys will be putting 4 cyl. in their V8 vans

Did yall see a show on tv the other night?
They took gas engine out of an early camaro and replaced it with a big electric motor and to big battery boxes, one box in the trunk and one box under the hood. It was so quiet you could barely hear it, and it was fast. Did some nice smokey burnouts.
Makes you say hmmmmmm.

May be cool, but performance vehicles are supposed to go rumpity, rumpity....

anyone know about v8 astro computer problems. a friend of mine put a small block in his it has the stock computer , runs terrible

stock computer is set for a v6, you need to swap it out. has the wrong timing, fuel mixture , etc.

when I do this to my astro, what do I wanna look for as to the comp? one out of a V-8 truck or Camero or ???

try and get the computer out of the same vehicle you get the donor engine from.

yeah, can't have the treat without the meat,

I did the v-8 swap. 305. had to buy mounts from a web parts site. The engine was free and bolted up to the 700r4. I switched the 2 chips on the astro puter and it runs great. Used the chips from the g-20 doner that the 305 was in. G-20 was a 90 and stro is an 88. Both are TBI. I have over size tires though so gas milage isn't great. Only problem is that it shifts late. Thinking of putting in a 350 turbo. Was an easy swap. Definatly more power!!
They are fun but if you have a good running 4.3, stick with it ....

Anyone had any experience going from 4.3 Vortec (99 model) to 350 tuned port? The electronics end is my main concern.

Yes I did this exact swap in my 86 astro. I sent the entire engine side of the harness to http://www.jimsperformance.com/ and they sent it back with a new computer and all the necessary wiring to plug up to the injectors and it works great. There are stand alone systems from painless and other wiring companies that will also work with this swap. The advantage to the stand alone system is you can put your TPI motor in whatever vehicle you want. If you need any detail feel free to email me; Munzvan@aol.com
