OK attachments work which is fine for now. Think I figured out the issue. HTML is disabled and I don't have the ability to change that setting it seems.
Maybe I am too new to the forum or my settings are weird.
I'll be a picture-attacher for the time being.
I have NO control over that ...Astro is the guy you want to talk to.
SUNSHINE VANS-VAN DIEGO ADRENALIN BY THE GALLON & CHASIN RACIN ONE FOR THE DIRT & ONE FOR THE STREETS '93 CHEVY G30 454 4X4 SPORTVAN EXT 146" WB '92 CHEVY G30 454 BEAUVILLE EXT 146" WB
Swapped in the S-10 master cylinder last weekend and what a difference! The pushrod hole in the new MC was too shallow so I drilled it deeper and all seems well. Pushrod can't fall out, MC plunger/piston seemed to have plenty of material to drill the hole deeper, and the brakes feel like they have about double the stopping power!
Last Sunday was the first trip in the van! Felt good to finally take her for a ride. Stuck to the local low-speed roads around town and it actually did pretty well. Didn't overheat, kept good oil pressure and voltage and shifted through all the gears OK. Regarding shifting it was really late and hard when it shifted so I first thought the previous owner of the TH350 trans had put some kind of wild shift kit in it - but then i discovered that I never hooked up the vacuum line to the modulator... DUH... Gonna get that done this weekend along with transfer case and differential service plus tightening up some wire and hose routing, looking for a small coolant leak and some other odds and ends.
I got a lot of looks driving this monster (mostly positive) but I think a muffler may be in my future so I don't attract too much of the wrong kind of attention haha!
It was cool. I got a video but it's not very good, next time I'll do better! Got a good pic in the driveway with the back end of the wife's ride for comparison.
Is the vacuum modulator on the TH350's the same as the one on the TH400 in that you can use a small flathead screwdriver to adjust how hard the shifts are? I would imagine that any adjustment you could make to the modulator wouldn't have nearly as much of an effect as having it actually hooked up to vacuum though, lol
I have heard that some of the modulators have that small screw for adjustments. Last weekend I hooked up the vacuum line but I didn't check for the screw. Also have not driven again to see how much different it will be.
I can say that without the vacuum, the shifts are not enjoyable. It makes the transmission "think" that you are wide open on the throttle so it gives you the latest and hardest shifts possible. If the vac hookup gets this under control I will be happy. Years ago I had a '79 Blazer with a stock 350/350 combo and 35's and it was actually pretty pleasant to drive in terms of shift points.
Just looked it up and the vac modulator for the TH350 is set up just like the TH400.
That little brass nipple that the vacuum line hooks up to is slotted and can be turned. Clockwise for earlier shifts and counterclockwise for later shifts. Small adjustments are best, like a 1/4 turn at a time.
