Didn't mean to spend the whole weekend on the van for one issue but that's how it went. Did the transmission filter and fluid. Immediately had problems. 1st time around it was running better, except for slow down shifts. Got it home from a short road trip, and the discover the transmission pan gasket was leaking. Damn! Musta pinched it. Had to run into town to get another gasket. No leaks now. Through all of this fun, I learned a valuable lesson about TV cables on Ford Overdrive Automatics !! My mistake was I started messed with the linkage and levers, just to see how they move. Heard a click. Didn't really think about it... Turned into an "Oh Shit". Now it wouldn't shift out of first. By then it was 10pm, called it a day. This morning, after some internet research about adjustments, and that troublesome common TV cable issues that many others have dealt with. Now I'm diagnosing by phone with my son and another friend. I got to thinkin' and rememberin'. I had been messing with the levers. I went back under, disconnected the TV cable at the kick down lever. Part of the adjustment protocol. The lever didn't line up the right position. Pulled it forward, heard a click! AH HAH! Now the cable lined up perfectly!! Did the top setting and now she shifts through all 4 gears. Overall, it's running better than it was when I bought it. Just not downshifting as fast as I would like.Takes 5 seconds sometimes to downshift. Have transmission guy, who's a customer and friend, that I'm going to call for that adjustment. Best transmission guy I know. Rather pay him to adjust it than risk ruining the transmission if I get it wrong. This afternoon I took a cruise with a cranked up stereo for some music therapy with those Rockford Fosgate speakers on that Sony stereo. Liking this van more and more.

The transmission TV cable is critical, will burn one up quick, they stretch with age, may be time for a new one.
