Looking to remove the large single rear window to accomplish some paint work, but unsure how the upper hinge disassembles.

Does it slide sideways once the two flip-latches are removed?

Hi Peaches, if you have one of the premium stainless steel upper hinges, which looks like a long stainless tube, you'd simply keep opening the window higher and higher, then the window end of the hinge, which is made like the hook end of a 'C' shape, will be exposed in the slot of the fixed door half of the hinge, and you lift straight up to disengage it. This large window might be heavy enough that you'd benefit from having a helper, since you'll be lifting it way up and maneuvering it at the same time. You sure wouldn't want to drop it!
