Congratulations Mlarky on your new van. I'm sure you will be happy when you get the problems fixed.

Be heading to junk yard row next weekend to find parts. Looking for over head console, preferably nice fiberglass piece. Sun visor over the windshield, Captains chairs, in blue preferably. Have a box of 70's style over head lamps like the van shops used to sell back in the day. Whatcha got Charlie??

I still think you're making this all up without pictures to prove it. lol WE WANNA SEE THIS THING! lol

Sounds like you're getting her sorted out nicely. Keep on rockin' it.

Today was the side frame fuel pump, it was getting noisy, almost a constant loud screaming whine. New pump is nice and quiet, could hear the fuel pump relay click and not the pump. Next weekend it's getting a full tune up ...cap rotor, plugs and wires. A bottle of BG44K, new shocks, and replace the cracked exhaust manifold. Either tomorrow or Tuesday, I have a shop that's going to replace the tie rod ends and do the alignment. Then the transmission filter and some new fluid. Hoping it starts shifting better. Still have to manually shift down on some hills, and slips a bit at first when I first get going after cold start up.. The fluid turning slightly brownish. Hoping it fixes those issues and is a need for general maintenance purposes. Now researching wide rims and tires, but unless I can find door extender set up I won't get as wide as I'd like. As soon as I get all the maintenance stuff done and she's running the way it should, I start on the body prep for paint, then do the interior.

I have a 88 Econoline... with 43,000 miles on it . Sounds like the same kind of problem I had comping back from the 2019 Nats.... There are more than one fuel pump in the system one in each tank and one on the frame rail . The frame pump was noisy , so I replaced it . did not fix the problem . I dropped the tank's and found that the rubber hose that connects the pump to the metal pipe was Hard and cracked ( the rubber is not the type that can take the alcohol in the fuel )
so the pumps were running but not putting fuel in the system , Just recirculating back into the tank . once I replaced the rubber hose it ran great ! So I checked all rubber hoses after that found more that were hard and about to crack ( Vacuum lines also )
Hope this helps...
Oh the code reader said it was running lean

Eastfalia, that is a help. Thanks for the input, and "duh" reminder... I was getting lean code along with a few others, thinking it was the TPS. The TPS change fixed the stalling issues... The van just doesn't seem to be running at full strength anyway, feels sluggish. Wouldn't be surprised if dried out cracking lines are causing issues. I have Been down that road before and should already be checking them. I will be checking the rubber lines this weekend, as I have some other work planned, like the transmission filter and fluid, a tune up, and such.

Just got the front end work taken care of yesterday. The tie rod ends and a front end alignment. My friend Eric and trusted mechanic who did the work, said one of them was about to go, and the others were really bad. So now, going down the road at speed and braking isn't so intimidating with the shaky steering wheel. I usually do most of my own work, but I always know who to go to when I don't have the tools. And since I don't have a front end alignment machine in my garage, and Eric's shop has that new big bucks high end alignment machine.... He and the other guys at the shop were impressed with my van for it's age, low miles and over all condition. He test drove it, and came up with the same list of things to fix that I already have.

I'm a member of Central Texas Vanners. Pics of my van are there in a post. ( hope this doesn't break the rules here. Already an FB repeat offender :P) I still can get my JPG photos to convert to url without losing the pic.
