It has been setting for 2 years. Did I miss something? Trying to find anything for it is a major undertaking all of a sudden. Slapping on new shocks, new carb, and went looking for some new stainless headers. Summit, Jegs, Hooker, and Heddman, It is a basic bare bones 350 crate gen1. Looking for long tube stainless, but would consider high temp ceramic. Anybody got any ideas or suggestions? | | | Re: 76 chevy back to life | Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 2,286 Likes: 153 veteran | veteran Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 2,286 Likes: 153 | Welcome! Try search the site in the left hand menu, and type in Chevy Headers. True Duals with cast iron manifolds on a 350 is not a bad compromise. Good Hunting!

Bringing her back to life. When did the world change. Cannot seem to find anything online anymore for a 76 Chev. Looking for stainless headers for a bare bone 350. No air and TH350 automatic. Would consider HT ceramic. Any suggestions would be appreciated. | | | Re: 76 G20 back to life | Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 2,286 Likes: 153 veteran | veteran Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 2,286 Likes: 153 | In addition to searching the on this site, you could try like old Hot Rod, or Truck n Van magazine articles too. They come with the gaskets and hardware. The headers are coated with a "temporary" coating to keep them from rusting while in storage so I dropped mine off at a local sandblasting service because I plan on painting them with a high temp paint from POR and the instructions say the paint will work better if the headers are sandblasted first. To remove the "coating" Headman says to attach them to the engine and run it up to where they are hot and the coating will pretty much flake off they also said you can use aircraft paint remover, but here are other ways to remove the "coating" that I found on the internet, sanding, using a propane torch and if you have access to a large oven bake them until they get hot enough. Anyway hope this helps with your search.
good luck
Recently purchased (10-2021) a 1991 Chevy G-20 “Shorty”. Past vans are a 1976 Chevy G-10 (purchased new in 1976 & sold in 1995). A 1978 Chevy G-20 Shorty purchased in 2010 and sold in 2015.

Headman use to have a set of direct fit, but checking the site now only allows for option years of 71-74. I tried the sand blasting and then ceramic coating, looked good but did not last. Which is why I was looking for stainless. The cost of the headers, sand blasting and coating was more than if I had just gone stainless. Headman headers come with paper gaskets. They will blow on you after a while, you may want to upgrade that item. The cost is well worth it when you think about pulling, cleaning, and reattaching a set of headers. Just a tip, on the number 1 cylinder inside header bolt you will need to put that in the hole and attach first. If you try to put it in after the header is mounted the curve of the pipe will not allow you to get it in the hole. I have never found a high temp paint that ever lived up to its claims. Engine block, intake or headers. Hope that you prove me wrong on that. Good Luck
