Hey Everyone,
Hope your New Year is starting off good.
My 1976 B200 5.2L 318 doesn't want to pass smog this year. Everything passes but the CO readings. Just rebuilt the carb and put in new plugs, new distributor, full tune-up. but still not passing.
I've tried the seafoam route before and after the carb rebuild, retarded the timing to try to get the number to drop but to no avail.
Any ideas on how to get this thing to pass? Or any leads on good emissions repair in the SF bay area?
Appreciate any advice, I want to keep this van on the road.

Have you tried another shop to see what happens or a pre test? SMOG shops vary from place to place. I have a daily driver of a 1995 Lincoln. I went to 8 shops and no one wanted to smog it for various reasons. One shop did and it passed with no problems.

Excess fuel, not burning fuel. I don't understand how they test, but if you can understand at what point you achieved high co you can understand what went wrong. Anything from wrong bowl height, bad spark, to the wonkie carb linkages can be to blame. Clogged air bleed? I have not touched a stock rebuild kit since i was 12 but I do remember the kit would give you series numbers, year and model, some with different settings for all parts. The trick is going to be understanding when.
