Darn modern Hondas have so many freaking sensors and random weirdness to the engines though, it could be one of those I suppose.

She let it run dry on oil before she left and it developed a peck with a code on Rocker #3. I changed the oil and cleared the code, but peck was still there. Honda dealer tried to tell me it was a rod knocking, but I told them to stuff it I knew it wasn't that. I checked with a stethoscope and could only hear the noise under the valve cover. Had another shop adjust the valves and that quieted the peck a little, but didn't totally get rid of it. Biggest problem is it seems to fall on its face in the RPM range where it should be making power.

Some folks say it could be the Vtec sensors or screen, who knows. I got a cheap eBay engine we are going to try for now, and that way I can tear into the original engine and see what's happening with it. This car has been an absolute turd since day one. It was one service shy of being able to claim lemon law on it.

Sounds like maybe a valve spring is bad? Falling flat at RPM may be the valve floating...idk. I might try checking spring pressures...

I did valve seals on a Toyota Camry once, had to pull heads off and swore I'd never touch one again 😂

ETA : nevermind 🤣

Yeah, I already scrapped the old engine. Everywhere I looked, it was going to cost at least $1,000 to redo the head, got the replacement engine with 50,000 miles shipped to my door for $600 so she's running good again. It was very painful to scrap a darn engine that wouldn't really need much work, but it is what it is.

Yeah, that's not bad.

I thought of doing that with the Pacifica, but that darn car has to be really gutted to get the engine out, so I just fixed the one that was in there. (Still don't know why. LOL)

At that point, let someone else deal with it, you know? Great score on the engine!
