Just got some new bumper guards for my 85 G20. Was worried about the zeibart undercoating but I got the first 3 bolts off no problemo. Figures the last one is really covered in the zeibart. Used a small dremel with wire brush to get as much coating off as I could. Worked it with some 6 points sockets, then a vice grip, but have stopped myself before I round out the nut way too much.

What’s the best plan of attack? Y’all know it’s a tight area. It’s the upper bolt on the front bumper. Is it possible to just drill it out from the front? Def not worried about saving the bolt.

Thanks!

Can you heat it up, like with an electric heat gun or small torch? I've had really good results with the Dremel cut off wheels too.

At my in-laws so I’ll see if he has a torch.

I have a smaller handheld dremel that can’t get at the proper angle to cut through the bolt. It could cut into the nut, but not across the bolt. Last night I checked to see if my in-laws plug-in dremel max would work and it seems slightly too big to get a good clean cut all the way across so I was hesitant about using it and mangling it all up, making it even more of a hassle!

Would center punching the bolt from the outside and drilling down into it work and be easier that trying to cut it off from the inside?

If it's the same as mine there is a stainless cap on the bolt head which will spin if you try to drill it so you might have to try and get a vise grip on it. Drilling it out will work. I think IIRC I cut a flats on the sides and held it with visegrip.

Oh and M10 I think could be M12 stainless dome headed coach bolts are what you need to replace the ziebarted ones with.
