Searched high and low, but apologies if there is already a thread about this somewhere!
My 81 chevy van has three aftermarket windows installed, (a company called Le Van Specialty Co Inc which i can't find anything about anywhere..) they are curved tempered glass. One of the aluminum frames was completely destroyed and all the seals had cracked open so we decided to pull them out and re-install. Unfortunately while trying to re-install we accidentally smashed one of the panes. Does anyone have a good resource for either:
a.) someone (in southern california or shippable) who will make a custom pane of curved glass for this window b.) somewhere to buy old custom van windows where i might find one the same size (The hole is 28⅝" X 30⅛") c.) some other way to solve this problem?
I should add that I have done some online searching - no luck finding something the same size.. and calling around to local RV glass repair places and all have said they can't replace it because of the curve of the glass!
Dang! a bunch of no's from every company i've tried including DKhardware and parkin.. They all say it can't be done because of the curve of the glass.. But thanks for all the suggestions so far, not quite giving up yet.
Going to try and hit some salvage yards but does anyone have any idea if it would be possible to somehow.. fill in the hole? Like is there such a thing as a fibreglass patch for the side panel like that if i just can't find one? I don't have all the time in the world and it would be great to get something in there so i can keep moving on this interior, so trying to figure out what my other options are..
+1 on the salvage yards being you best bet. One tip, that's a generic item the conversion companies used, so don't limit your search to Chevy, check the Dodge, Ford, etc. Might find one the same shape and dimensions in another make.
