I'm currently getting ready to build a bed frame and finish the interior in my van. This will be my third bed frame I've build so far. First one in my 78 g10 shorty, and I was thinking about using metal for the frame of the bed. I've only ever used lumber for my last builds, but was curious if any of you have used metal for the frame. Curious what the pros and cons would be and if its something you thought was worth doing. Thanks ya much

I would say weight only depending on the metal you use. If you can find some aluminum extrusion you can leave it exposed and possibly get it anodized.

I once saw someone weld square tubing to make a nice solid frame, no heavier than wood, no lighter, only difference was it was a bit more open, allowing more storage space, easier access.
