I flip the dash lever back and fourth, can hear the relay clicking, I did not pull the plug to see if it the constant hot wire has power, but if the wire that runs to the heater reads 12 volts you'd think that means yes, its hot. I am getting sick of fooling with it, only thing I haven't done was replace all the battery cables and grounds, god help me to get room means pulling the battery, it has a hose over it that runs from a fan to cool my injectors, so it ain't pleasant to get out. I really hate Ford for this nightmare, too much stuff has to be removed to get at anything, not like you can just replace a part without removing everything surrounding it, the fan speed selector runs to the resister, perhaps praying it to break it loose didn't really get it working, perhaps the contacts inside are bad. | | | Re: Heater blower motor | Joined: Aug 2017 Posts: 1,061 Likes: 47 old hand | old hand Joined: Aug 2017 Posts: 1,061 Likes: 47 | Did you test the relay? You said it clicks but maybe there's something else wrong with it. | | | Re: Heater blower motor | Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 veteran | veteran Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 | I'm thinking along the same lines as Cornfarmer. Could still be clicking and yet not making proper contact. Only other thing I could think of is the switch itself might be like a rheostat and not sending enough voltage when turned on. | | | Re: Heater blower motor | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 3,601 Likes: 10 pooh-bah | OP pooh-bah Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 3,601 Likes: 10 | Well the relay was getting the signal to switch on/off, but it was not fully engaging, so no power to the motor, I put a new relay on the outside of the grill, was not going to pull the battery out again, finally the blower functions, so much for the previous owners hacking a hot wire to run to it, now to remove the rest of the wire tapping to get the radio correctly connected. I can say O'reilly is the only one selling the heater relay. I've spent a lot replacing heater parts due to hacking, but the wheelchair lift will likely be the winner on what cost more to repair. | | |
