I've replaced the relay and resistor. After doing that it worked for maybe a week. Being that it's not a daily driver it only gets used every other day or so.
My question is is there another switch or something of the sort that is common to go out in these vans that I'm missing? Or is it best to just start chasing wires? | | | Re: Hopefully the last A/C question. | Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 veteran | veteran Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 | My guess would be a wire rubbed bare somewhere causing a short to blow the fuse. | | | Re: Hopefully the last A/C question. | Joined: Aug 2021 Posts: 35 Likes: 1 newbie | OP newbie Joined: Aug 2021 Posts: 35 Likes: 1 | Was afraid of that. It's so intermittent I was hoping for a simpler solution. I'll get started looking. Thank you. | | | Re: Hopefully the last A/C question. | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 9,855 Likes: 234 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 9,855 Likes: 234 | The fan switch needs to be checked first. They can overheat and short between speeds. If nothing else you should rule it out before chasing wires. | 2 members like this:

Seems like they have it at the parts store. I'll pick one up tomorrow. Have a question about my doors should I make another post? | | | Re: Hopefully the last A/C question. | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 9,855 Likes: 234 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 9,855 Likes: 234 | Might be better to start a new door thread.
If the switch got too hot the plug could be melted/toasted. | | | Re: Hopefully the last A/C question. | Joined: Aug 2021 Posts: 35 Likes: 1 newbie | OP newbie Joined: Aug 2021 Posts: 35 Likes: 1 | Sounds good. I'll get started on it after work. Planning on changing out the thermostat and radiator hoses this weekend as well. Thanks for the help. | | |
