SUNSHINE VANS-VAN DIEGO ADRENALIN BY THE GALLON & CHASIN RACIN ONE FOR THE DIRT & ONE FOR THE STREETS '93 CHEVY G30 454 4X4 SPORTVAN EXT 146" WB '92 CHEVY G30 454 BEAUVILLE EXT 146" WB
Still got mine 89 Beau. Have about 200k on it now. I may have found the rarest bird this winter G30 shorty 8 lug 14 bolt. I could not tell what motor, looked like the BB, could be diesel v8. Just thought to check the gas cap, will do next time I pass through. It's rotted out, but worth saving.
First post here, saw this thread while searching for info on Google, figured I'd post my van, as it made sense to share it here.
1991 G30 extended length 454, with the Tonawanda engine and 50k original miles. Apparently started life as a Matco van, couldn't find any history on it though.
Mechanically pretty much fully rebuilt at this point, still need to do a bit with the throttle body injection. Paint was stripped back down to bare metal, epoxy primed, sanded, sprayed with three coats of base coat and three coats of clear. Color is Dodge "smokeshow gray". I did all the stripping and prep work, friend of mine did the actual spraying, since he paints cars for a living. Had all the windows out, all the doors off, fun times.
Sprayed the inside with tint-able bed liner, put in a couple seats out of a late model (2021) Chevy van, as the seat it came with was pretty rough, and there was only one seat. Also sprayed the lower rockers with bed liner, as well as the roof. The roof was really pitted and rough, even after grinding all the rust off and sandblasting the areas that needed it, and the bed liner was about the only thing that hid it reasonably well.
It'll probably live life as a tow vehicle, and haul stuff as needed. Saved me from buying a truck, and it's a more interesting vehicle to drive than some newer 1500 series, which is what I would have wound up with otherwise. My daily is a Ford Fiesta, so having something that can move some cargo is definitely nice.
