So I recieved my new spare tire carrier for the rear door. But how do I mount the tire to the carrier?? There's no studs on the carrier and I cant find a how-to.
Thanks.

I don't know, but I've got the same question for a Bronco II I bought earlier this week.
It has the swing away tire carrier, but no obvious place to mount the wheel.
My guess is that I've got a piece missing.

Does yours have a bar with holes in it?
Maybe you could put bolts in it from the back to serve as studs?

What year is the Bronco??
Yeah, it's got a vertical bar with 2 oval holes and 2 square holes.
But yeah, I'm just gonna use some studs and bolts.
My S10 Blazer ZR2 had a factory swing out spare tire that had 3 studs...if I remember. 🤔

The Bronco is an '86 model.

I'm assuming it's just missing the bolts. Square holes are probably for a carriage bolt like the bumper bolts, and the oval holes are probably for a normal bolt and oval shaped holes so you can slide the bolts to adjust fit.

Typically they use two of the same studs as the wheels use and the same lug nuts hold it on. That way you can run a locker on there if you want.

I was going to pull a carrier off the '95 in the junkyard and the lower bar was rotted right out where it curves down to the lower hinge. Not the first time I've seen that.

I put one on my 89 E150, lost the bolts that came with it, until I mounted it, then they turned up, I bought a 3 1/2" stainless steel carriage bolt, nuts and washers, I don't want them rusting, they are pretty long, you'd be better off with 2". Anyone concerned with the weight this puts on the door hinge, I know conversions did it often, I was just wondering if I should worry about my old hinges, perhaps get the pins replaced?
