I just watched a documentary.about the F105 Squadron operating out of Thailand during the Vietnam War. A pilot had adopted a stray, raised him from a pup.. Roscoe, I think. He would wait for him alongside the runway until he returned. One day, he didn't. He was shot down, MIA. The Dog was devastated, and waited by the runway, for weeks.
Just like Trixie would wait for Billy...
Roscoe was adopted by the Squadron, and was much loved. He had a chair up front at the Mission briefings. If he sat up and paid attention, the mission would be rough. If He slept through the meeting, the missions would be uneventful.
Roscoe passed away while with the Squadron.
We are all in debt to our Armed Forces. Godspeed. RIP.
