Just some obscure VIN trivia,
The 1990 - 1995 BBC G30 EXT 7.4 may be Good Old American Iron, but only the1st digit # 1's were built in The U.S. The BBC motor in them came from Detroit.
The # 2''s were built in Canada, same with their Dodge Brethren. If you have a G30 with a BBC, VIN starting in 2GAGG39N, congratulations, your 7.4 motor was made in Tonawanda N.Y.
If you have a 1990 BBC in your G30, here's what you missed out on, the 1991,-1995 L19. Not to mention the 4L80. Plus no provision for a mechanical fuel pump cast into the block.
From 1991 the 454 was updated to the new Gen V block, crankshaft and heads. This engine was rated at 230 net hp, 380 ft lbs net torque, and was discontinued after 1995, GM coming out with the Vortec 7400 in 1996.
Referring to Comp9 VIN information, of the 14 1990 G30 EXT BBC vans equipped the same as mine in that year, 2 were bought by the U.S. Government, and sent overseas to Saudi Arabia. Desert Storm?
Talk about rare. How many Dodge 440's has anyone seen that were in a regular B Van, Van, and not a Class C MH?
Me? Only 1, and only in an CL ad.
. The Dodge 400 BB? seen and drove it, in a C/TransVan, soo close,
but never in a Van.
Big Blocks are rare. Get some!
