If your license plate ended in an even number, you could only get gas on even number days, if it ended in odd number, gas only on odd number days. The stations also had flags they put out, green if they had gas, red if they were out of gas. Also remember the old days when gas stations were begging you to buy their brand of gas, all kinds of promotions and freebies gave away. Rode the KLR to my mother-in-laws to help with her iPhone this evening. KLR gets around 50MPG and it's a good thing. Every gas station in our county that I passed had cars lined up into the roads waiting on gas. People are filling up cans, barrels, etc. like it's the end of times. Same way they hit the toilet paper for Covid fear, and same way they hit the milk and bread in fear of snow. Freaking news drives fear, because s@#$ sells, people get scared and decide to hoard the weirdest stuff. Me, I can see the future, I hoard 80's video games and axes. Don't ask how I know, just trust me and invest in those two.  Hopefully they don't realize there is a shortage on rust free vans. They'd start hoarding that stuff also!

Figured what the hey, might as well, so I topped off for $2.89. By the time I finished pumping, the station was jam packed and people lined up down the street both ways. I got blocked in and had to sit there 15-20 mins to get out and away from the pump. Its $1.50+ a litre here, so comparable to roughly $6 a gallon for 10 months now? Pre-pandy it was steady $1.10-1.20 a litre for what felt like a decade. Canadian gas is part gold maybe?
You know what though, I aint really bitchin' because if I cared THAT much ide just tuck it back, buy a prius and embrace that lifestyle. | | |
