Have had vans for some time now, usually worn out conversions, but I was able to buy a 94 G20 work van with 47,000 miles on it earlier this year, decided to put an interior in it, and have some fun with it. It's nice but not perfect so I don't feel too bad altering it. Got looking into custom van stuff and here we are. Just a 4.3 but has front and rear A/C.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTQUyP5IlQkIt belonged to the state and with the pandemic they started doing their surplus auctions online, so I didn't even have to get dressed to bid on it. Used to be you had to go look and got to see it move back and forth; those photos and the video were all I had to go on. But I was aware it existed for about 10 years, I do an event that gets me into employee/facility level of a parking garage and noticed it right away. And the next year, and the next year. One year I forgot to renew my registration and it expired at midnight, a state cop refused to let me into the garage. The next year this van was not only there but had not moved from the previous time I saw it, wasn't inspected, anything. Eventually it moved and I missed it until the next year, they'd gotten it out, got it inspected and moved it to another parking spot. Meanwhile I watched the surplus lists for this area for it to turn up.
When I picked it up it showed 350 miles since the last inspection done in 2018 and it had the original rear tires on it, the fronts from 2007. But it came home 150 miles without any problems.
So far I've just driven it, changed the oil, new tires and wheels, a carpet and bed platform in the back, and some of the interior done. I'd like to do flares, spoiler and a wing though.
