I don't get why people have such a hard time waiting until they find the title, get the title issue sorted out, or sell something cheaper without a title. $500-1,000 parts van without the title.
Don't need a title in GA if it's 25 years old.
But if I lived where one is required I would agree also. Kinda kills a local sale in lots of states....
Problem is all states are so totally different, that only helps if you're selling from and to GA.
I really wish there was some sort of set of common practices across the board in all states for vehicle titles. I've used that GA style rule to title a 1950 Chevy once, but it's all so dang confusing even our own DMV (division of motor vehicles) was confused as heck on the process. I went to one DMV with the original registration and they gave me a huge stack of papers to fill out and mail to their headquarters. Went to a different DMV about 20 mins away, and talked to someone who knew what they were doing, walked out with a new title and tags 30 minutes later.
PA and IL are two of the worst states I've ever dealt with. When we bought the Astro van in PA, we had to go to a dealership and have the damn title notorized. My pop tried to get a copy of his lost title from IL but they told him he had to do it in person, even though he was living in FL. Then he passed and now we are going through a nightmare of paperwork and fees with IL trying to get his title sorted out so my daughter can have the dang car.
