Here are some pics of the old gasket. I'm no window installer but would like to give it a try. This new one just does not seem right to me. Steele has been great by confirming the part number on the package and checking the pictures I've sent with their parts people.
However, there is no part number on the gasket itself to confirm that the correct gasket was put in the right bag with part number, and.....I'm not certain that they have experienced Tech people that can look at the gasket once installed on the pinch weld and say yep, that's it, or nope not the right one.
I'm hoping someone here has installed themselves and can recognize if this is correct. Possibly even have some install instructions or pics?

Should be an #853 IIRC.
I had a glass shop replace my windshield about 5 years (?) ago. We reused the old gasket. Last year I removed and replaced my windshield myself to repair some rusty spots I missed the first time. Reused the gasket again. Reinstalled with the rope method and soapy spray and it was a snap.
3M #08509 bedding & glazing compound ,,, best stuff on earth. Will save ya a bunch of headaches.
Check youtube or the C10/Chevy Truck forums as the windshield install is basically the same.

Windshield and gasket should both have 853 in the part number regardless of brand name...

BTW in answer to your question. Yes it looks correct. Unlock the center locking strip on your old gasket, remove it from the glass and the two will begin to look alike.
Sorry I should have said this up front. crazy

Really appreciate the help CatFish. The new one I ordered was without a lock strip. I didn't think it had one as Steele asked me if it had a chrome strip around mine, to which I said no. Not realizing that some are not chrome. So, you think my old gasket in the pics has a lock strip? Ok, good to know and once I get home I'll check the old gasket to make sure.

It's a vanner thing.
The locking strip is in the middle of the outside portion of the gasket (see picture) and is usually attached on one side. The chrome locking strip is a very rare part nowadays.
The later models were the glue-in type which used a different glass and different gasket. The steel body work of the windshield frame is the same from 73 to 95 and either set will work as long as the windshield and gasket are paired.
Our GMC is a '94 but was converted back to the earlier type.
Let us know what you discover.
