hey guys i want a 2" tow hitch for my van. mostly to hold a bike rack and a bumper dumper smile

all the sites online show 78+ and im not sure what the differences are besides the bumpers.

did the frames change? can i not bolt up a normal hitch on my 77 G10?

also interested in buying one if youre in the SF bay area. thanks in advance

I threw the hitch on my 73 g20 away. It actually bolted under bumper towards the middle in two spots and had two bolt on each side of frame. I will do some checking my shop is a drawtite and curt distributor. Maybe get some part numbers for you tomorrow.

When in doubt..get the sawzall out..

Thanks for the reply. I don't have notifications for replies so that's why I'm getting back to you so late. Someone told me the frames previous to 1978 had no captive nuts inside so even though the holes are in the frame theres no way to bolt them up. Please let me know if you find something

recently i crawled under the van to see i have no captive nuts on my frame. there are several holes but nothing else. i really want a normal bolt on hitch for mounting a bike rack/bbq/bumper dumper and towing a small trailer. if anyone has one let me know

Sounds like you may have to have one fabricated. That's what I did for my Dodge. Cut out the receiver for one that was made for my old Ford van. Welded it to the under side of my step bumper.

yeah looks like it. i have a parts van (1981) this has the captive nuts inside the frame. mine has nothing. i do have a hitch on it but it looks horrible and just has a flat tongue on it. i have the hitch off the parts van with a proper 2" receiver. problem in someone did a crappy job welding it on. no space in the frame to snake nuts inside to even hold the bolts. thinking of getting rid of the old hitch and bringing it to a fab guy to weld it on
