catching up on a few things i've done over the past two months. I decided to go ahead and do the cooling maintenance as planned. I had too big of a parts pile starting to collect dust in a corner! Turns out I bought the wrong radiator? I think the new one was meant for one with an oil cooler and trans cooler vs just trans cooler (so one endtank was longer than the other). I was past my return date, but luckily install went smoothly. I replaced the waterpump, tensioner, idler pulley, belt, radiator and hoses. I previously did the thermostat and coolant temp sensor, so it's all fresh! I do however need to do the temp sensor on the block, I actually didn't know this motor had 2 separate sensors, and the cluster reading has been crap since I got it, so that's definitely next up.

I started to pull it all apart and found that the lower rad hose wasn't even clamped?!

you can tell the new parts installed LOL!

I needed a hitch to secure my ramp, and for using a carrier if needed. I ordered a curt hitch, i've had a few of their hitches in the past and trust them.

and install wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. I didn't do any drilling or "enlarging existing holes" as instructions specified, just used some gaffers tape and a bendy magnet.

and as of this past week, my driver side door latch assy took a shit. the spring that holds the latching mechanism together snapped, and made closing the door a couple minute process as i had to manually get the hinges back where they needed to be. I found out nowhere local (napa/carquest/autozone/oreillys) stocks this part. Luckily a chevrolet dealer in town had the part, and they dropped the price down for me coming as close to rock auto as they could. Didn't take pics of the new one, would rather have just replaced the whole door with a junkyard donor, but strangely we haven't had many vans there for maybe the past 4-5 months.

I ended up finally wiring up the power to the passenger seat tilt control, and replacing the coolant temp sensor on the block earlier this month finally. The sensor wasn't the issue but it was well overdue to be changed out. I also replaced about 3" of wire due to a small section being pretty cooked next to the header. Nope, then i tried to ground the wire from the plug at cluster, problem found. It turned out my coolant gauge was inop and I've been impatiently waiting for a 91-96 g10-g20 to show up at the local pic-a-part, but the yards have been slim on the later model vans and finally a 95 g30 showed up last week.

I thought the clusters were the same, very small visual differences - the main issue being that the g10 cluster has different oil psi max temp (60 vs g30 goes up to 80). Anyways, the oil psi used to read fine on the g10 cluster (i'm guessing near 30 psi at idle) with the g30 cluster it's reading at the max (80psi), the coolant gauge does work however!! So that's kind of nice since I plan on driving it out of state in January for a track day and that's something I definitely want to be able to monitor on the drive over. I'm not so much worried about oil psi vs water temp tbh. Anyone know if it's as simple as swapping over a g30 oil pressure sending unit? Does that even fit or should I just send it and wait til i find another g10/g20 cluster at the junkyard eventually.

anyways, here's an old pic of the g10 cluster that i have on hand

The sending units should just be a simple swap over, but looking in my computer at work it's listing the senders as the same 93-95. There maybe different options, I just did a basic search, without know engine specifics may make the difference.

thanks for taking the time to look! i was checking rock auto - cross referencing part #'s and came up with the same conclusion between 93 g10 4.3 and 95 g30 4.3/5.7 - I'm going to drive it around later and most likely leave it. If it really bugs me I'll look for another tach in the future, but I honestly rather keep an eye on my coolant temps when climbing up the steeper inclines on my upcoming road trip so this works for now!

No problem, i completely understand the thought process on coolant temp. That's why i added a coolant temp gauge into my cluster on my g20. I get nervous since I've deleted the mechanical fans, and I'm relying solely on electric fans for engine cooling. I've had a ton of 4.3L chevy engines over the years in s series trucks. I think less than 10psi oil pressure at idle is when you should be concerned a rebuild is in the near future. Have you looked into adding external oil and trans coolers in? They aren't a necessity by any means, but keeping oil and trans temps lower helps keep the overall engine temp down as well.
